Getting Started

Remember those educational objectives you have to submit?  This is how you will know what subjects to include.  Check out these lists for elementary (K-6) and secondary (7-12).

**For your convenience, I have added a few downloadable forms (Forms section) to help with planning and keeping track of things.**

•  English, to include spelling, reading, and writing
•  math
•  science
•  geography
•  history of the U.S. and Pennsylvania
•  civics
•  safety education (regularly including fire safety)
•  health and physiology
•  physical education
•  music
•  art

*Not all of these are required every year.

•  English, to include language, literature, speech, and composition
•  science
•  geography
•  social studies, to include civics, world history, history of the U.S. and Pennsylvania 
•  math, to include general math, algebra, and geometry
•  art

You will want to find the type of curriculum and style that works for you.  Some methods used by families include:  unschooling, classical, traditional, Charlotte Mason method, eclectic/blend, and possibly others.  You will need to do a bit of research to find out what appeals to/works best for your family.  It doesn't need to be extensive research.  You don't want to be overwhelmed.  Ask other homeschool families you may know, hire a consultant to help you, or just look online.  There's plenty of information to be found.
